1st Annual Rivers Edge Cruze In
We didn't know what to expect since it was the first attempt at this event, but what a pleasant surprise. There were over 40 participants of all varieties, good tunes playing, and a few good dancers doin the twist. Good Times - Good Times.
July 4th Weekend
July 2nd was a spectacular day. The blues skies and gold sun proves to me that God must be a Mountaineer. We started the day with the Fire Cracker 5K, but it didn't tire out our campers as they enjoined the beautiful voice of Mr. McKnight. This was followed up by the golf cart parade at 4pm. Led by our friends at Apple Grove Fire Department we had a chain of 60 golf carts, and numerous supporters on bikes. All participants put in countless hours in preparation to put these carts over the top. We finished off the day with the Hillbilly Gypsies and fireworks. The Gypsies gave us a heavy dose of Bluegrass and Mountain music that had the whole crowd tapping their feet. The intermission gave just enough time to view the fireworks display that I felt was top notch.
We owe the Apple Grove Fire Department a special thanks for handling the fireworks as well as bringing a fire truck over for the parade. We also owe a special thanks to all the women that raised money for the auction, donating campers, and auction participants. It all came together a truly special event.
